My Soft Launch into providing documentation for other web designers

After years of working for myself as a web designer (mostly with WordPress), wrangling projects and solving clients’ digital problems, I’m finally doing something I’ve been trying to achieve for a long time—I’m pushing go-live on Web Designer Docs.

It’s a soft launch (more on that in a moment), but first, I’d like to share with you why I created this resource.

Why Web Designer Docs?

Because web design isn’t just about websites.

It’s about managing clients. Scoping projects. Writing proposals. Setting boundaries. Protecting your time. Getting paid. Fixing what breaks. Following up. Following through.

And if you’re a solo web designer like me or even a small agency, I know you are juggling all of that by yourself, as that’s what I’ve been doing too. Due to all that work and experience, I’ve accumulated numerous documents based on my many years of hard-won knowledge and the lessons I’ve learned.

I’ve created documents and processes to help me manage those behind-the-scenes challenges more smoothly. These are the things that help me stay more organized and productive.

Now, I’m sharing them.

What You’ll Find Here

At Web Designer Docs, I’m creating and selling the documents I have used in my own business (as well as creating new ones). Things like:

  • Website proposals
  • Website care plans
  • Client email templates
  • And other behind-the-scenes documents to run a web design business more smoothly

This is all grounded in my real-world experience, not theory. It’s what I use, what I’ve tested, and what I’ve refined over years of working with clients and the feedback they’ve given me.

Why a Soft Launch?

Because I’m starting small and growing from there.

Right now, I’m focused on getting the first few documents out into the world – I’ve put this off far too long, trying to make it perfect. The website’s live, the core pieces are in place, and I’ll be building and expanding as I go. That means things might shift a little — and I’m okay with that. Not every document I use is available here right now, as they all require some polishing from me, which takes time as I’m a web designer with clients too.

If you’ve ever launched something new, you know it’s equal parts exciting and terrifying. But the best way forward is just to start. So here I am, starting (finally!).
